A Day for Mother's

Every year there is a big debate in the stepfamily world about Mother's Day

Many Mothers are unable to spend this day with their children because of a court order or custody battle.

Stepmother's do not feel they get the appreciation and attention from their husbands and stepchildren which in turn will make them resent the Mother. This is part of what being in a stepfamily is about. Learning to know your role and being secure in it, not just for yourself but for the children.

Children who excitedly make Mother's Day cards and gifts at school or daycare are anxious to get their gift to their Mom and yet in some cases, these children are unable to either because their Mother is not in their life or because of a court order or parental alienation. It is upsetting how one day that is made for ALL Mother's is now being made a big deal because Stepmother's don't feel it is right. Maybe it is just me but whether you are biological, step(custodial), adoptive, or foster, you are still a Mother and still deserve to be recognized on this day. Instead of battling it out with your stepchildren's Mother, understand that she is there and the children will always love her. So whether you and her get along or are at each other's throats. Remember one thing:
